A lesson from Proverbs 31 part A

As women we are responsible for our household, God has ordained that we take care of our families. In this day and age it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, and the fast food, easy fix, have it your way burger king society that we live in. So as children of God, particularly as godly woman, wives and mothers it's our responsibility to take care of our husbands, children and ourselves the way God intended.

"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life."

Pausing there for a moment I think of the virtuous woman and how her example can apply to every area of my life. Who can find a virtuous woman? Ladies being a virtuous woman is not easy, it is a work in progress one we should strive for daily. We ought not to be wasteful, our husbands should trust that we will take care of our responsibilities. This healthy eating/living lifestyle is a great way to be his virtuous woman a great way to do him good and NOT evil. Think about the rising health issues our society faces from there unhealthy eating and lifestyles. Sounds pretty evil doesn't it?

"she seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

She is like the merchants ships;she bringeth her food from afar.

She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens."

Wow! This woman is not afraid of a little work. Sure it's not as easy as the drive through or that frozen dinner in the freezer but who wants to bet this family is healthy? She worketh WILLINGLY, a mind set we should all strive towards.

What and how we feed our families does matter to the LORD, particularly our role as ladies in this. She bringeth her food from afar, providing a well lifestyle for our families is not always easy, it will take some work, some long shopping trips to find unprocessed wholesome foods, ripe in season veggies, a trip over state lines because it's illegal to sell raw milk in your state. Or ordering from an online source when there are little options in your area.

She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. Feed your family your wholesome cooking but don't stop there! Share you healthy lifestyle with someone else, show another person the light! Be a godly example in EVERY area of you life.

"she considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

She perceiveth her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night."

This woman had alot of responsibility, and was very resourceful. Sure you may not be able to buy a piece of land to provide food and extra income off of, but you can grow a small garden in the back yard, or a potted garden on the porch of your apartment. Fresh wholesome home grown goodness that saves your family money!

Stopping there for the moment let's take some time to reflect on how we can take this biblical example and apply it to our lives today. What areas can you improve on? If your already doing these things take this as encouragement to keep up the good work. I think the virtuous woman was a green living woman, a godly woman.

Enjoy!
